GET TO KNOW YOUR COMMUNITY TEEN CENTER

  • two.fifty.four is a community teen center located at 254 Agler Rd in Gahanna. Students come here to build relationships, play games, craft, snack, get help with homework, or just hangout.

  • We’re located in Gahanna, but we welcome students from neighboring communities as well. We have regularly scheduled weekly open times for different age groups. Many of our events are designed for middle and high school students, but we also schedule special events for younger students and families.

  • Any time that our doors are open for GAAP-sponsored public events, there will be two individuals from two.fifty.four who have passed full BCI and FBI background checks. In addition, all other volunteers complete a third-party background check that verifies identity and searches criminal records and sex-offender databases. Students sign in when they arrive and provide emergency contact information. Parents are invited, but not required, to stop in and meet volunteers and discuss concerns or provide us with any additional information as needed.

  • We encourage parents to consider volunteering, but we also want students to have a place of their own that is relatively parent-free during our regular open times. We understand that families that are new to two.fifty.four will take some time to get comfortable with what we’re offering. Come talk to the volunteers, and feel free to have a look around. Student activities are only held on the first floor, and parents are free to hang out upstairs if they would like.

  • We don’t want cost to present a barrier for the youth in our community to enjoy two.fifty.four. All of our activities are free. Each student, when signing in at our regular open times, is also given two “snack tokens” that can be used to purchase snacks or drinks. Additional items cost $0.50 each.

  • two.fifty.four is operated by the Gahanna Ages and Abilities Partnership (GAAP), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on addressing relational gaps in the community. GAAP, in turn, is supported by donations from members of the community. If you’d like to help support two.fifty.four with a monetary donation, you can use the box at the center, mail a check to our P.O. Box, or donate through PayPal on the website. GAAP is not affiliated with any specific church, but many of our volunteers do attend local churches.

  • We’re thrilled you asked! There are many opportunities: chaperoning, marketing, social media, volunteer coordination, landscaping, website, cleaning, fundraising, maintenance, program design, tech support, tutoring, etc. Call or stop in to discuss or fill out the volunteer application on the website.

  • We offer our space to community organizations that share our passion for serving youth and their families. We especially love partnering with these organizations to offer new opportunities for students. We have allowed private groups to use the space when not otherwise booked, though we generally do not reserve the space for private events very far in advance. Please think of two.fifty.four as a shared space that can be used together to bless the community.
